Gerard is the sole owner of PDX
Automotive. Gerard has a degree in Fishery Biology from the
University of Michigan and previously worked for the Institute for
Fisheries Research for the state of Michigan and the “Fish Crew” of
the Great Lakes Research Institute of the University of Michigan.
He entered the field of automotive repair when his former partner
was looking for a partner and Gerard and his wife decided a move to
Oregon would be most welcome. They moved to Oregon in 1983 and
Gerard entered the business at that time.
Gerard is very interested in the outdoors and travel. He is a birder
and has traveled throughout the U.S. and worldwide on birding trips.
He has been on the Oregon Birds Records Committee since 1994. He has
written many articles for Oregon Birds and North American Birds. He
has lead Spring Birdsong Walks on Mt. Tabor in Portland for several
years. He served on the board of Oregon Field Ornithologists for
four years and represented Audubon Society of Portland on the board
that developed the 20 year Master Plan for Mt. Tabor Park in
Portland.
John Polley
John began working at PDX in 1993. He
originally was a technician working on vehicles. He moved into the
office in 2000 and is our main Service Advisor. John has extensive
technical knowledge and is an ASE certified Master Technician and
also has the advanced L-1 level certification.
John and his wife love the outdoors and are busy year round in
Oregon. The summer sees them water skiing and sky skiing and the
winter finds them dirt biking in central Oregon. Their two
mini-Dachshunds- Lucy and Murphy- are well known and well loved
fixtures in the office.
